The Japan Times (August 25, 2012) reports on the action by a non-partisan group of lawmakers to submit a bill to the Diet (the Japanese Parliament) aiming at the protection of the rights of those that do not want life support when terminally ill.If approved this bill would allow doctors to withhold (not start) or to withdraw (stop) treatment of a terminally ill patient that expresses this in writing.
