Former WF secretary Malcolm Hurwitt died at the age of 91

Malcolm Hurwitt, who has died aged 91, was known for his lifelong passion for the law and for law reform connected to human rights. His main legal interests throughout these years encompassed mental health and civil liberties. From the mid-1980s he focused on the right-to-die movement from a legal perspective, and was chair of the Voluntary Euthanasia Society (which was later renamed Dignity in Dying) for two terms, as well as honorary secretary of the World Federation of Right to Die Societies from 1994 to 1998.
