Dr. Erika Preisig acquitted of homicide by Swiss Supreme Court

The Swiss Federal Supreme Court has acquitted Dr. Erika Preisig, an assisted dying provider, who helped a woman to die in 2016, despite not having a psychiatric report to prove that the woman suffered from mental illness. Dr Preisig was charged, in 2018, with potentially premeditated or negligent homicide by the public prosecutor. Despite an initial verdict being appealed by the prosecutor, the Federal Court, rules in Preisig’s favour and the decision was publicly announced on June 28, 2023.
