Supporters of DWDV have been polling candidates for the upcoming by-elections in the Victorian seats of Albert Park and Williamstown for their position on DWDV’s Legislative Charter to grant terminally and incurably ill Victorians with profound suffering the right to physician assisted dying (PAD). The results are being published at http://www.dwdv.org.au/politics/VicByElections2007.html to help constituents cast an informed vote.
Repeated professional polls over 25 years have shown that a majority of Australians (currently 80%) believe that the terminally and incurably ill with profound suffering should have the right to seek medical assistance to die with dignity. Just 13% of Australians are opposed.
