Dutch Right to Die Society sues the Dutch state

At Friday April 9, the Dutch Right to Die Society ‘Cooperation Last Will (CLW)‘ summons the Dutch state for their legal provision on ‘assisted suicide’. That provision is contrary to the European Convention for Human Rights, according to CLW.

The aim of the trial is the legalization of humane last means for those who request it. 30 members of the CLW contribute to the trial: “Only then we can decide for ourselves about our own end of life, without being dependent on the judgment of a physician. And without the risk of prosecution of our dearest and family.”

The CLW thinks it will be a long way, which may even lead to the Council of State and the European Court. CLW follows in a tradition of other Right to Die Societies who rely on the right to self-determination and dignity in order to get rid of the legal prohibition on assisted suicide.
