Summer is here, and while most legislative sessions have ended, there are still states making rapid progress. From East to West, states are advancing Death with Dignity legislation in powerful ways. With an official amendment signing and legislation continuing to advance in Massachusetts and California, there is still incredible momentum and real opportunity to make lasting change before the year is over.

Maine Signs Amendment into Law!
Governor Janet Mills has officially signed LD613, an amendment to Maine’s Death with Dignity Act, into law! The amendment allows physicians to use their clinical discretion to waive up to 10 days of the 17-day waiting period for qualified patients. Learn more about how Maine has joined six other states in amending their laws to allow better access to state Death with Dignity laws.
A Huge Step Forward for Massachusetts
Great news for the Bay State!The Joint Committee on Public Health voted to advance the bill, and it now moves to the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing. Read about Massachusetts and how it has progressed through the legislature here.
