Dr Rodney Syme has been recognized as Humanist of the Year 2017, by the Council of Australian Humanist Societies.
His advocacy and support for physician-assisted dying was the reason for this award. Rodney Syme has been a prominent advocate for physician-assisted dying for more than twenty-five years.
He was president of Dying With Dignity Victoria for ten years (1996-2007) and, since then, vice-president. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the WFRtDS from 2008-2012.
