New South Wales VAD Bill 2021 will be debated in Upper House
The bill, put forward by Independent MP Alex Greenwich, passed the Lower House in November of last year with a thumping majority.
To become law, it must now pass the Upper House too.
On Wednesday February 23, Labor MLC Adam Searle, who is leading the bill in the Upper House, gave his second reading speech.
Today, March 23, the next day of debate is expected.
At the moment, this type of bill (Private Member’s Bill) can only be debated for a limited number of hours on Wednesdays.
However, the Lower House debate took 30hrs. On Wednesdays alone, this would take us into the final months of 2022.
