Dementia ā Glimpsed Futures: WRTDD2024 Webinar Series
In acknowledgment of the escalating global health crisis surrounding dementia, the World Federation of Right to Die Societies is proud to announce the launch of its informative 2024 Webinar Series on dementia, titled “Dementia ā Glimpsed Futures,” in celebration of World Right to Die Day (WRTDD) on November 2nd.
Dementia has emerged as one of the most critical health challenges facing society today. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), it is projected that by 2050, 178 million people worldwide will be living with dementia. Dementia is already the leading cause of death in some countries. As a global organisation representing over 60 member societies, the World Federation recognises the urgency of addressing this issue and fostering dialogue surrounding end-of-life choices.
The webinar series will feature three international sessions that bring together a diverse group of experts as well as individuals with lived experience in dementia and end-of-life care:
- Webinar 1: We are honoured to welcome Dr. Lewis Cohen from the United States, author of “Winters End,” who will discuss the complexities of considering life-foreshortening options following a dementia diagnosis. Dr. Cohen will engage in conversation with primary caregivers whose loved ones were diagnosed with dementia.
