Slovenia: referendum shows 55% in favour of assisted dying

On June 9th, together with the European election, Slovenia held a consultative referendum in which citizens were asked “Are you in favour of adopting a law that will regulate the right to assistance in the voluntary end of life?” 55% of voters were in favour and 45% were against. While this is only a consultative referendum, and thus non-binding, the issue does have the support of three major political parties and thus has a high chance of becoming an issue the government must represent.
