West Virginia’s legislature placed a dangerous constitutional amendment on the ballot that would permanently ban Death with Dignity

Late in the session, West Virginia’s legislature placed a dangerous constitutional amendment on the ballot that would permanently ban Death with Dignity – Amendment One. While it’s already illegal under current West Virginia law, this constitutional amendment would mark the first time any state amended its constitution to explicitly prohibit medical aid in dying.

This is a defining moment. The decision West Virginians make on Election Day could reshape the future of end-of-life rights — not just in their state, but across the entire nation. If West Virginia loses, we all lose!

We must act swiftly to educate voters on the urgency of this issue, and we cannot do it without your help. Your contribution of $50 or more today is critical. It will allow us to expose the truth: denying terminally ill individuals the right to die with dignity is not only unnecessary but deeply unjust.

West Virginia Patient Advocate Rusty Williams shares his personal story about fighting cancer and fighting against Amendment One

In recognition of the national threat this vote in West Virginia means to all states considering medical aid in dying, the Death with Dignity Political Fund, in partnership with West Virginia advocates, has launched the No on Amendment 1 campaign. All contributions to the No on Amendment 1 campaign will be used to fight this dangerous effort to curtail freedoms.

State constitutions are supposed to protect our freedoms — not take them away. If Amendment One passes, it sets a dangerous precedent for other states, giving our opponents a blueprint to strip away the rights of terminally ill patients across the country.

We are running out of time. The election is fast approaching, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.Every dollar you give could be the difference between empowering West Virginians with truth and letting fear-based narratives take hold. Donate $50 or more today to fund our voter education campaign and protect your rights.

Together, we can ensure that voters are informed and that we fight back before it’s too late. This isn’t just about West Virginia—this is about defending Death with Dignity for everyone.

Sincerely,

Death with Dignity Political Fund, No on Amendment One

P.S. — Every contribution, no matter the size, will shine a spotlight on Amendment One. Donate today and let West Virginia voters know that terminally ill individuals have rights!
