Association Québécoise pour le Droit de Mourir dans la Dignité
A Quebec citizens' association working since 2007 for everyone's right to choose end-of-life care that fits their idea of dignity.
About the society.
AQDMD is a volunteer-run citizens' association founded in 2007, whose members include health professionals, lawyers and people with personal experience of the end of life. Its mission is to make sure the law lets everyone in Quebec choose and receive end-of-life care, including medical aid in dying, that fits their own idea of dignity.
It has made submissions on every major Quebec and federal bill on medical aid in dying, and intervened in the Leblanc, Carter and Truchon-Gladu court cases. It now campaigns for the law to go further, working with lawmakers in Quebec City and Ottawa without party affiliation.
It answers individual questions by phone and email, explains palliative care and medical aid in dying, and publishes guides, including one to help patients make an advance request for medical aid in dying.
