Libertad para morir
A Mexican civil association campaigning for a law on medical assistance in dying in Mexico City.
About the society.
Libertad para Morir is a secular, non-profit civil association of academics and specialists working for the right to a medically assisted death in Mexico. It was launched publicly in June 2023, at a seminar at Mexico City's Human Rights Commission.
Its main work now is a citizens' bill, the Ley de Asistencia Médica para Morir de la Ciudad de México, which would allow both euthanasia and medically assisted suicide in Mexico City. It is gathering signatures from the city's voters so that the city Congress must consider the bill, and it lobbies lawmakers directly.
It also publishes articles, books and guides in Spanish on assisted dying and the law in Mexico and elsewhere, and works with other organisations and public bodies.
