Recently the Dutch Euthanasia Review Committee’s published their annual report. Important 2012 figures are: with 4188 reported cases the number raised with 13% compared to 2011 (3695). Looking at the details, no explanations can be found for this rise, other than that euthanasia and assisted suicide are in Netherlands more and more discussed openly in public in general and between doctor and patient in particular. Other numbers are: Of the 4188 reported cases 32 were from the Life End Clinic (all reported as “careful” !). In 10 cases the committee gave a “not careful” decision – these were reported to the authorities.
