The New Zealand Ministry of Health (Manatū Hauora) published its annual report from November 2021-November 2022, the first year in which Assisted Dying Service was available.
- 661 formal applications for assisted dying were received.
- 67.93% of the applications were because of a cancer diagnosis.
- 257 people had an assisted death.
- 147 practitioners registered as VAD providers
- 81.71% of assisted deaths occurred at the person’s home or another private property.
