New Zealands End of Life Choice Bill adopted by legislator – in 2020 it has to pass a referendum

In the night of Wednesday 13 November, the End of Life Choice Bill passed the New Zealand parliament in its third and final vote (with 69 votes to 51). It will now go to referendum alongside the 2020 general election.

Good to know: Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has supported calls for euthanasia reform.

 

A recent poll suggested 72% of New Zealanders supported some form of assisted dying.
