The “Assisted Dying for the Terminally-ill” Bill, introduced by Lord Joffe is being considered by the House of Lords Select Committee. The bill would make it legal for doctors to help people die if they had months to live and were in severe pain. Prince Philip, now 83 years old, has apparently expressed his support. The VES has succeeded in obtaining almost 100,000 signatures to support the proposed legislation. Negative testimony was heard from the British Medical Association and the Royal College of Nursing; the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners took a neutral stance.
