A decision in July this year in the case of Peter K. is seen as helpful. It strengthens a patientās right to self-determination and clarifies important areas of conflict, for example by stating clearly that feeding by injection without the patientās consent is illegal. āAn end to artificial feeding should not have been refused. Living wills, even expressed only orally, are also binding on care authorities.ā
