
FAITH SOMMERFIELD MEMORIAL LECTURE
We are excited to launch the Faith Sommerfield Memorial Lecture at Columbia University on Thursday, September 21st. Our Inaugural Guest will be Peter Singer, Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University, who is âconsidered one of the worldâs most influential â and controversial â philosophersâ (The Guardian). Mr. Singer is a recipient of the The Frontiers of Knowledge Award (along with Steven Pinker) given for innovative academic contributions in the domains of rationality and moral progress. He is also the recipient of the 2021 Berggruen Prize for Philosophy and Culture, a $1 million award given annually to “thinkers whose ideas have profoundly shaped human self-understanding and advancement in a rapidly changing world.” Mr. Singerâs latest book is Ethics in the Real World: 90 Essays on Things That Matter.
