Factcheck: Australian’s support for assisted dying

A claim was recently made on ABC’s QandA that at least 70% of Catholics and Anglicans support assisted dying. The claim was challenged and a FactCheck prepared and vetted by scholars. They concluded that some but not all polls supported the statement.

In reaction to this Neil Francis of Dying for Choice wrote a blog on religious conservatism. In his blog he shows that relevant polls do support assisted dying. The opposistion is largely associated with Australia’s most religious. He states that those who are actively organised to oppose the right to choose an assisted death, are deeply religious.
