After temporising during half of its mandate, François Hollande believes he has found a point of political balance on one of the most delicate issues between the French, supporters and opponents of euthanasia. Mr Jean Leonetti (UMP) and Alain Claeys (PS) advocating new approaches for an ‘end of peaceful life’, without however allowing assisted suicide, offered him his way out of this dilemma.
