Luxembourg reviewcommittee brings out 2009-2010 annual report

The Luxembourg Reviewcommittee on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide, published its first annual report. After the enactement of the law in March 2009,  this report covers the period between the 4th quarter of 2009 and 2010: five (5) cases were reported.
All reported cases concerned euthanasia, no cases of physician assisted suicide were reported. Further statistics are:

  • 3 female and 2 male
  • 2 died at home, 3 in hospital
  • 3 were between 60 and 80 years of age, the other 2 were over 80

    The committee also reached an agreement on the principle that dying through euthanasia or physician assisted suicide should be considered as natural.
