On November 7 a symposium was held in the European Parliament, hosted by two MEP’s (Hilde Vautmans [ALDE] and Josep-Maria Terricabras (Greens/EFA]) on the instigation of DMD Catalunya and RtD-Europe, titled What can be done at European level and in municipalities? on the right to a dignified death.
Representatives from France, Poland, Portugal and Spain, countries where to date no legislation concerning euthanasia is in place, convened to draw the European Parliament’s attention to this situation. At the end a declaration ( Proposal for an official declaration by European cities in support of the right to dignity in dying) was formulated and signed by the participants.
