Maryan Street withdrew her Assisted Dying Bill, which was in the ballot awaiting Parliamentary debate. This withdrawal will not lead to acquittance. Political motivation is at the basis: coming year there will be elections in New Zealand, and though many MP’s are supportive of her Bill, they do not want to have the issue of assisted dying interfere with “election” party politics. Maryan Street plans to put the bill back in the ballot box at the start of the new political term after the election in 2014.
