The Oregon Health Authority, which collects information about patients who receive a lethal dose of medication to end their lives, monitors compliance to the regulations and records instances in its annual report. According to the 2023 report, 560 people were received prescriptions under the DWDA of which 367 people died (including 30 people who had previously received prescriptions). Of those seeking prescriptions 82% were aged 65 years or older, and 94% were caucasian. 66% were cancer patients, 11% suffered from neurological disease and 10% from heart disease. There were no instances of failure to comply with DWDA restrictions.
