STEPS forward in Venezuela?

(Revised message) According to Venezolan paper  “El Universal” legislators are considering adding a clause on euthanasia to a major bill on crime prevention. The draft of this code (COP) does not mention euthanasia as such, but would permit it under very specific circumstances. The proposed article of the Venzuelan Penal Code can be found here.

Criteria mentioned are “patients being in incurable phase” of a “terminal illness”, with a “clear and free” written consent. The publication received controversy from at least one legislator, who accused the paper of manipulating information. And of course the (well known) conservative sectors as the Catholic church. Still – the debate has started!
