UK Society for Old Age Rational Suicide (SOARS) goes online

The Society for Old Age Rational Suicide (established on International Human Rights Day December 10, 2009, in Brighton, UK) today published its website. The Society campaigns for a change of law so that very elderly, mentally competent individuals, who are suffering unbearably (not “terminally”) … can have a dignified death, as an ultimate human right.

The Society will limit its main activities to the Brighton and Hove area during 2010. In February a telephone poll in the area showed encouraging results. SOARS will do all it can to support present campaigns by UK Dignity in Dying and Scottish Friends At The End for a change in the law, to permit doctor-assisted suicide for those who are terminally ill. For further information and explanation visit their website at www.soars.org.uk.
