Myths & Facts: Track 2 MAID

When Bill C-7 passed in 2021, two tracks — or sets of procedural safeguards — emerged with different processes for those whose natural deaths are reasonably foreseeable (Track 1) and those whose deaths are not (Track 2). For many living with serious, incurable conditions, and long-standing intolerable suffering, Track 2 opened a new possibility for choice at end of life.

We welcomed MAID clinicians Dr. Chantal Perrot and Dr. Eric Thomas to answer questions, including how the process is different for Track 2 applicants and what kinds of conditions might qualify.
