Australia: Nurse donates organs following VAD

Marlene Bevern, a former nurse diagnosed with an aggressive form of motor neuron disease that only gave her months to live, was determined that something good should come of her death- life. This is the first case in Australia in which a VAD patient expressed the desire to donate their organs, though the process had been done in other countries, among which the Netherlands, Canada, Belgium and Spain. Ms Bevern also donated her tissues to MND research. Four people were the recipients of her kidneys, lungs and liver.
