Dying Right North Carolina is a nonprofit working to make medical aid in dying legal in North Carolina, so that terminally ill, mentally competent adults can choose when, where and how they die rather than endure suffering that can't be relieved. It describes itself as the state's only citizen advocacy group working specifically for that change.
Founded in 2015 by Edmund Tiryakian, who serves as its executive director, it follows medical aid in dying bills in the North Carolina General Assembly and keeps supporters informed so they can contact their legislators.
It also raises awareness of end-of-life options through news, essays and personal testimonies, provides dementia advance directive forms, and offers speakers to groups across the state.
