The Completed Life Initiative
A US nonprofit helping terminally ill people and their families understand and use medical aid in dying.
About the society.
The Completed Life Initiative works to open up honest conversation about end-of-life options in the United States, and to give people facing a terminal illness, and those close to them, the information and support to make their own decisions about medical aid in dying.
Founded in 2019 by Faith Sommerfield and Nicole Nuttall, it runs a resource library covering every US jurisdiction where medical aid in dying is legal, with state-by-state guides to eligibility and the process, alongside material on advance directives, research reports, interviews, webinars and virtual conferences.
Its flagship project is The Sanctuary: a home-like residence on former farmland in southern Vermont, where people using medical aid in dying through licensed Vermont providers, including visitors from other states, can stay with their families. The Sanctuary itself provides no medical care.
