US: AMA remains staunchly anti-assisted suicide

At its interim meeting earlier in November, the AMA delegates (the association represents approximately a quarter of US doctors) voted down two resolutions which would have changed the lobby group’s position on assisted suicide to one of neutrality. That said, two proposals were made for further study; one that opposes criminalization of healthcare professionals who participate in assisted suicide and a change in terminology from physician-assisted suicide to Medically Assisted Aid in Dying (MAID).
